But an eighteen wheeler drives by and runs the hitchhiker over, killing him. Sally runs to the road, with Leatherface and the hitchhiker giving chase. Infuriated, the hitchhiker grabs the hammer-letting go of Sally-and in all the confusion, Sally breaks free and jumps through a window outside just as the sun has begun to rise. Sally is physically and verbally tormented by the demented family, for what seems like hours, and she is almost killed when they try to get Grandpa (the barely alive man that Sally found earlier) to kill Sally with a sledgehammer, but he is too weak to do so. Sally is tied up at the dinner table and it is revealed that the hitchhiker, the proprietor and Leatherface are all one cannibalistic family. Inside, the proprietor consoles her and then beats her with a broom, ties her up and shoves her in his truck where he drives her to the house. She runs into the woods again until she comes upon a gas station. Sally then is attacked by Leatherface and she leaps through an upstairs window to escape. She races inside and upstairs, she finds the remains of an elderly couple, the man barely alive and the woman, dead and mummified. She endlessly is chased through the woods by Leatherface wielding the chainsaw (in one of the most remarkable chase scenes in movie history) until Sally finds the house where all of her friends were butchered. Sally flees into the dark woods, Leatherface in pursuit. All of a sudden, Leatherface leaps from the shadows and murders Franklin with a chainsaw. Night comes soon, and Sally tries to push Franklin along the uneven forest trail in the darkness. Leatherface appears and bashes Jerry with a sledgehammer. He finds the house, and he goes inside and enters a back room where he discovers Pam locked in a freezer, barely alive. She then is forced to witness Leatherface dismembering Kirk with a chainsaw.Įvening falls, and Jerry goes to look for Kirk and Pam. She flees the house, but Leatherface catches her on the front porch and drags her back inside, where he hangs her on a meathook in the back room. Pam goes into the old house where she stumbles upon a room filled with bones and live chickens. Leatherface murders Kirk via blow to the head with a sledgehammer and drags him into the back room. Upon entering a secret room, he comes face-to-face with a large man wearing a mask made out of human skin- Leatherface. Pam sits outside while Kirk explores inside the house. But instead, they find a house with a running generator. Tired of Pam and Kirk's annoying foreplay, Franklin tells the couple about a nearby lake and the two set off. The teenagers arrive at a gas station where the proprietor tells them the tanks are empty and the gang sets off to the home, barely managing to make it to the plantation mansion. The group shoves the crazy man out of the van and drive off the hitchhiker smears blood all over the van as the group drives away. He takes a picture of the gang, cuts himself with a razor and then cuts Franklin. The group later picks up a strange-looking hitchhiker who bumbles incoherently and crazily. On the way, they stop at a local cemetery so Sally can relieve her concerns of her grandfather's grave being vandalized. Sally Hardesty, her wheelchair-bound brother Franklin, Sally's boyfriend Jerry, her best friend Pam and Pam's boyfriend Kirk are driving to an old homestead in Texas. The film opens with an eerie prelude, including an introduction and a radio broadcast about several gruesome graverobbings. Warning: this text contains details about the plot/ending of the film.

In 1776 he was proposed as the next conductor of the Paris Opera but was subsequently denied this role by a petition by the divas of the time to the Queen. In 1775 he introduced the symphonie concertante, using the possibilities offered by a new bow. In 1773 he was appointed conductor of "Le Concert des Amateurs". In 1769 he joined a new symphony orchestra two years later he was appointed concertmaster and soon started composing. In 1764 Antonio Lolli dedicated two concertos to Saint-Georges. He received music lessons from François-Joseph Gossec and likely violin lessons from Jean-Marie Leclair, while continuing to study fencing. At the age of seven he was taken to France, and at the age of thirteen educated as gendarme to the King. End time believers at Philadelphia will escape from the Son of Perdition, in the same way that David escaped from being murdered by Saul.” There is a parallel being drawn here between the Church at Philadelphia and King David. It wasn’t until Saul threw the spear that David “slipped away.” Was Saul a really bad shot, or did David “split” and then “burst through” (a portal) into another dimension and out of Saul’s presence? This “portal” could be what is called in Revelation 3:7, 10, the “key of David.” I believe this term is used specifically this one time, to refer the reader back to 1 Samuel 19. Beginning with verse 7 (above) you can see that David was playing his harp while Saul held his spear in his hand. “To cleave” means to slice or cut (in two). “The Hebrew verb being translated as “to slip away” is patar (paw tar’) and means to cleave or burst through. But the change did not come without controversy, with many Pontchartrain loyalists arguing that the new winner, a 25.84-mile elevated highway-bridge-tunnel project near Qingdao, China, actually has only 16.1 miles that span the sea compared to 23.79 miles of Pontchartrain’s that are over open water. Rather than just a list and database, it provides context to each comic. Is it worth it?ĬLZ Comics is an information-based platform, and that’s the best way to look at it. Pick up any issue, regardless of whether it’s a run-filler or key, and just add it through the app. It’s super helpful if the issue in question is considered a “run-filler” that isn’t of major significance in the series or character’s mythos. You can create want lists to help when you come across an issue you don’t have. Knowing what you have also clarifies what you need, and that’s another area where the app excels. If you’ve had your comic professionally graded by a company like CGC, CBCS or PGX, you can also add that tidbit in there. The grade being a key one, as well as date of purchase, and whether or not you first bought the comic at cover price. There’s plenty of metadata to throw in once you’ve added one. Older newsstand comics seem to be fine, but I’ve found that the barcode reader is more effective with modern issues. For years, direct editions in the 1980s and 90s (comics distributed to comic book stores) didn’t have them, so I’ve noticed I’ve had to add those manually. That’s easier for all comics that actually have a barcode. It’s also smart enough to recognize variant covers, which is far more important in the current age. CLZ uses the phone or tablet’s camera to read the code, thereby knowing exactly which comic to add. Or you can scan the barcode on the comic to add it automatically. Manual input methods involve searching for a series or issue and then adding it. Once that ends, though, you can lose it all. And if you do partake in the cloud-based services, you can access the data for as long as you subscribe. With mobile, you’re limited to using it on phones and tablets. You do have to pay extra for that, which is a bummer. Subscribing to the mobile app doesn’t guarantee access to the web app, as I already mentioned. There’s a lot of manual input where necessary, though CLZ tries to automate it as much as possible. You can also look things up by character, publisher, artist, and even the country the issue came from. The search tools are robust, clearly denoting the series, volume and years of publication. With unfettered access, you can basically add every comic you own into your personal database. You’re not obligated to sign up and create an account if you are a paid subscriber, but since you are paying, it’s not a bad idea to utilize the cloud features. You could go with $1.99/month or pay for the full year at $19.95, which is the better deal. When you do first start the trial, you also choose the method in which you want to pay for a subscription. Previously, there was a 100-comic limit, but that has since been removed for both the iOS and Android apps. There is no way to dabble in it, otherwise. If your collection is small, or you’re just trying to figure out if what you have has any real value, you won’t be able to use it without signing up for that free trial. It may feel short, but make good use of it in that time, and you will get a good handle over how it works and whether you like it or not. What you get for freeĬLZ offers a free 7-day trial to use the app without any restrictions. You don’t necessarily need a Wi-Fi or data connection, either, as you can still add comics to your collection anytime. With your data stored in the cloud, you don’t need to worry about losing everything you’ve added in case your phone dies, or for any other reason. There is a cloud-based element to all this, though it depends on if you sign up for an account and subscribe to the service. However, CLZ does charge a separate fee for its Comic Connect web app, which I won’t be covering here. You can also access the features through the website, giving you another avenue to indulge in your comics from a computer. There is a CLZ app for both iOS and Android, and as far as I can tell, there isn’t a huge difference in performance between them. The database is extensive, so even if your comic is obscure or not mainstream, there’s a good chance it will be on the app. The app is half inventory, half want list, depending on how you use it, but its main purpose is to know what you have, and what you need. That’s where CLZ, short form for “Collecterz,” comes in. Unearthing them and making sense of what you have (and their worth) is a lot easier when you can catalogue each issue or series. Comics could be one of them, particularly for those who may have stored them away for years. One thing about a pandemic is that it may coerce people to revisit things they collected in the past. Whether you collected comic books in the past, or are immersed in the hobby today, the CLZ Comics app may be one of the easiest ways to keep them all organized. New machines are usually overload safe to a certain limit. Safety-There is a very low chance of fire compared to hydraulic oil.Compressed gas can be stored, so machines still run for a while if electrical power is lost. Gas absorbs excessive force, whereas fluid in hydraulics directly transfers force. Because gas is compressible, equipment is less subject to shock damage. Reliability-Pneumatic systems generally have long operating lives and require little maintenance.Simplicity of design and control-Machines are easily designed using standard cylinders and other components, and operate via simple on-off control.Hydraulics applications commonly use from 1,000 to 5,000 psi (6.9 to 34.5 MPa), but specialized applications may exceed 10,000 psi (69 MPa). Most industrial pneumatic applications use pressures of about 80 to 100 pounds per square inch (550 to 690 kPa). Pneumatics uses an easily compressible gas such as air or a suitable pure gas-while hydraulics uses relatively incompressible liquid media such as oil. It has moved from small handheld devices to large machines with multiple parts that serve different functions.īoth pneumatics and hydraulics are applications of fluid power. The field of pneumatics has changed considerably over the years. He demonstrated the vacuum pump to separate the pairs of copper hemispheres using air pressures. He invented the vacuum pump, a device that can draw out air or gas from the attached vessel. German physicist Otto von Guericke (1602 to 1686) further developed the idea. The origins of pneumatics can be traced back to the first century when ancient Greek mathematician Hero of Alexandria wrote about his inventions powered by steam or the wind. Carbon dioxide is an asphyxiant and can be a freezing hazard if vented improperly. Portable pneumatic tools and small vehicles, such as Robot Wars machines and other hobbyist applications are often powered by compressed carbon dioxide, because containers designed to hold it such as soda stream canisters and fire extinguishers are readily available, and the phase change between liquid and gas makes it possible to obtain a larger volume of compressed gas from a lighter container than compressed air requires. Smaller or stand-alone systems can use other compressed gases that present an asphyxiation hazard, such as nitrogen-often referred to as OFN (oxygen-free nitrogen) when supplied in cylinders. 21% of air) would not asphyxiate, but is not used in pneumatically-powered devices because it is a fire hazard, more expensive, and offers no performance advantage over air. Any compressed gas other than air is an asphyxiation hazard-including nitrogen, which makes up 78% of air. The air usually has moisture removed, and a small quantity of oil is added at the compressor to prevent corrosion and lubricate mechanical components.įactory-plumbed pneumatic-power users need not worry about poisonous leakage, as the gas is usually just air. Pneumatic systems in fixed installations, such as factories, use compressed air because a sustainable supply can be made by compressing atmospheric air. While defining Aha-moment, the accent is made on simplicity. Thus, the main task of the product is to show its value to the client giving him a possibility to experience it: from saying “Okay, it’s just another service” to “WOW, that’s what I was looking for!” ( Aha-moment at its best). The reasons why new clients don’t want to get back to the product may vary: perhaps, the user doesn’t have a need that the product satisfies or the product’s team attracts wrong clients (has wrong self-presentation), or the product’s added value isn’t high enough, or the product’s value is presented and explained in a wrong way. If you understand what the activity is (thought the interview or product data analytics), then you will be able to optimize the onboarding process of the new clients and increase the loyalty of the old ones. To a greater degree, the Aha-moment relates to simple Math, product credibility and to a lesser degree, it relates to deep analytics.Īha-moment is also an activity that brings value to the client. In marketing, Aha-moment is the time when the user realizes the value of the product and makes the decision to use it on a regular basis. In the present-day meaning, the term appeared in the early 30th of the XX century. “Evrika!” (“Got it!”) by Archimedes can be the most laconic definition of Aha-moment. In addition, it has become a solution to a problem Archimedes was thinking about back then. This discovery has attracted great attention to the understanding of the world and its laws. In this article, we will find out what Aha-moment is, how it is defined and what Aha-moment is in different companies.Īccording to the dictionary from the Merriam-Webster publishing company (a branch of Encyclopædia Britannica, the oldest English-written universal encyclopedia), Aha-moment (this term is slightly changed to Aha! Moment abroad) is defined as “a moment of sudden realization, inspiration, insight, recognition, or comprehension”.Īrchimedes, a scientist from ancient Greece, was amazed when he realized that the water level had risen according to the volume of his body. Aha-moment is the ultimate goal and many companies are constantly developing their product and researching their target audience. I think a lot of the difference is the notion that just by putting lots of stuff into it it's going to be useful. Lore books may exist if you are working on a long-lived IP, but most people on the team wouldn't read that whole thing. If I'm developing a marketing plan I want a virtual whiteboard referencing images from the art repo and wiki pages with a bunch of post it note ideas. If I'm a new designer joining the team I want to read a brief pitch document outlining the spirit of the game, then I want to read a document about the design pillars, then I want to read a bunch of pages about our tools. If I'm working on cutscene sfx I want a doc outlining all the planned cutscenes in a game and which are ready for a rough pass, which are ready for final sfx, and which are still in early concepting stage so I can know to check in on that one later. One big page containing EVERYTHING would also be useless. Dumping a big doc on the team then walking away is useless. The work shifts around and these documents exist to keep everyone on the same page. The "master GDD" is a wiki with an index pointing to the pages which are the most current and relevant. That said, this is just my perspective and experience and if someone else has had success doing it a completely different way I’d love to hear about it. As a designer you should be having lots of discussions with your team and begin prototyping as quickly as possible instead of trying to figure out everything in your head in isolation. I guess the point of my post is to help anyone feeling like they need to build these crazy detailed documents to be a “real” game dev that this isn’t necessarily true. Because of that, I find the idea of someone writing some master game design document with all details and technical implementations before any development has even begun to be a flawed concept and honestly almost impossible. It’s not a rigid process where everything can be fully detailed out and understood beforehand. To conclude what has become a much longer post than I intended, game design is an extremely collaborative process with lots of iteration. A technical design document will be built separately by them.Įven after this phase, these documents usually will continue to change before actual release as playtesting will continue to ensure the game system is as fun and solid as possible. The actual technical side and implementation details will usually come from the different disciplines in the studio and not the designer of the game system. Once the team is happy with the prototype, then a true design document will be made but writing it will be more of a formality as opposed to someone’s genius knowledge of game design because it’s really just putting onto paper everything that the team has learned was fun and worked from the multiple discussions and playtests that occurred. Putting all the effort into some insanely detailed document before this point would be kind of a waste of time with the amount of changes that would happen in prototyping. Tons of iteration will happen and the idea may even be cut if it just isn’t as fun as previously imagined. But when you can playtest it is when you get a tangible understanding of the game and whether it is actually fun or not. Before this it’s all theoretical and “this could be cool”. This stage of the process is where most of the meat and potatoes of game design happens in my opinion. If the idea makes it passed this stage, it will typically go into a prototype built with unoptimized code and filler assets. This will spurn discussions from the rest of the design team to poke holes into the idea and give suggestions. It may have some quick mockups and concept art to give people some visuals as well. This is just one person’s perspective so take it with a grain if salt, but from my experience, the idea of a single person making some master game design document that contains all details about the game and its technical implementation is inherently flawed.Īt my studio, the initial document for a game or game system idea will usually start as just an “ideas” document.
